John Llyod Cruz at Bea Alonzo nagka-reunion sa isang Valentines Day
After the outdoor screening of One More Chance at Tower One on Ayala Avenue, which kickstarts 10 Days of Art, a public art initiative of Art Fair Philippines 2020, the two popular films had a big romance-drama crossover on Valentine's day: John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo did a live script reading of That Thing called Tadhana.
Pinoy romantic movies feature strong acting, powerful dialog and relatable scenes, making them an indispensable part of local pop culture. For example, One More Chance is a favourite quotable. That Thing Called Tadhana was published in 2014, placing director Antoinette Jadaone on the map, making a cultural phenomenon hugot.
The segment is part of the first ever film section of the fair, The Unconfined Cinema, which is curated by film critic Philbert Dy and award-winning actor, editor, and film composer Erwin Romulo.
The 2014 movie stars Angelica Panganiban as Mace and JM de Guzman as Anthony, two strangers who meet at an airport in Rome and plan to explore the world as they get to know each other after arriving in the Philippines. The chemistry of the two actors proved a success, and the movie helped coin the word hugot.
