The Department of Science and Technology has welcomed representatives of the Igorot Global Organization residing abroad to invest in their homeland.

During the 13th Igorot International Consultation (IIC) hosted by Kalinga Province from 7 to 10 February, DOST Administrative Region Cordillera (CAR) Regional Director Nancy Bantog presented the available DOST-funded technologies for adoption to more than 200 delegates.

Bantog said that DOST is looking for adapters to their aided inventions for commercialization and invited expatriates to invest in these advanced technologies and to create a culture of S&T-based communities.

Technologies include agriculture, livestock and poultry, and food and medicine. In the meantime, DOST-CAR also organized a research and development forum for school representatives and research coaches at the provincial science and technology training center here.

Evelyn Ganotice, Tabuk City School Division LRMDS Manager, welcomed DOST's call to give their students a break to participate in technology innovations to also provide their students with guidance on technology exploration.

During the 2019 Regional Invention Contest and Exhibits (RICE), 15 CAR inventions were given three awards to Kalinga students.

The Calamansi Peeling Cookies of the Kalinga State University (KSU) were awarded regional winners under the Outstanding Utility Model Category, while the Chicken Taro Balls, also KSU, won the first runner-up.   The Solar Powered Light Trap for Rice Insect of Camalog National High School in Pinukpuk was also the regional winner of Sibol Category High School.
